You can normally meet the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements for entry to most courses at Charles Sturt University Sydney and Melbourne by doing one of the following:

1. providing evidence of having completed a sufficient standard of study in English, as outlined in the Group one and Group two lists on the Charles Sturt University website
2. for undergraduate courses, obtaining an Academic IELTS or equivalent within the last two years with:
   • a minimum overall score of 6.0
   • no individual score below 5.5
3. for postgraduate coursework courses, obtaining an Academic IELTS or equivalent within the last two years with:
   • a minimum overall score of 6.0
   • no individual score below 6.0
4. obtaining a qualification deemed by Charles Sturt University to be equivalent to Academic IELTS and its minimum scores.

Courses with higher English language proficiency requirements:

If you’re applying for the Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying), you’ll need to demonstrate a higher level of English language proficiency. Applicants must have an Academic IELTS overall score of 7.0, with no individual score below 7.0, or an accepted equivalent.

Further English language requirements may apply as part of the University’s assessment of the Genuine Student requirement. The University may also set separate English requirements in accordance with international student visa (subclass 500) processing.
